An XPath Benchmark for XMark

We have designed the benchmark in XML format. This solution has a number of advantages, including:

The benchmark is easy to download, ship, read, and modify.
The XPath benchmark can be queried (using XPath itself, for instance).
It is easier to write a benchmark checker, that is an application that tests the benchmark on a given XML engine and that computes performance indexes.

You may download:

The XML version of the benchmark, or the XML version including a Document Type Definition, or the canonical XML version (the term canonical XML refers to XML that is in canonical form).
A text file containing the benchmark queries only.
A technical report describing XPathMark and the methodology to evaluate an XML query engine using XPathMark.
