The Diagnosis group is concerned with the following main
research topics:
Functional diagnosis. Proposal, extensions. and application
of the FDef (Functional Diagnosis with efforts and flows) approach.
Diagnosis of hydraulic systems. Application of model-based diagnosis techniques to marine technical systems (in particular, the
heavy fuel oil transfer system of a ship).
Diagnostic reasoning about qualitative deviations. Exploitation of a 3-valued quantity space (too low, nominal, too high) for model-based diagnosis.
Diagnostic reasoning at multiple granularities. Techniques for
organizing a model into different levels of granularity and
translating observations and diagnostic conclusions among them.
Diagnosis based on multiple models. Representation and reasoning
about symptoms and faults with different types of knowledge (structural, behavioral, functional, and teleological).
