Vincenzo Della Mea

Who am I?

Born in Como, Italy, 1967; I got my degree in Computer Science in 1992, and PhD in 1998. I'm currently researcher (assistant professor) at the University of Udine.

My main interests include medical informatics and telemedicine (in particular: telepathology), evaluation of medical systems, ubiquitous computing (mobile and wireless systems), evaluation of information retrieval systems.

Honors and Activities

• October 2005: chairman of the Medical Informatics track at the AICA Congress, Udine, Italy
• June 2004: co-organizer of the International Workshop on Mobile Technologies and Health, Udine, Italy
• 1999-2001: local responsible for the European Project CATAI-CTC (LEONARDO).
• 1999-2001: Technical Director for the Project Italian Network of Telepathology (Ministry of Education and research)
• November 2001: Chairman of the 6th World Congress on the Internet in Medicine (MEDNET2001)
• June 1998: Co-organizer of the 4th European Congress on Telepathology, Udine, Italy.
• September 1997: Organization and coordination of the 2nd European Summer Course on Telemedicine.
• April 1997: co-organizer of the 1st Italian Meeting on Telepathology, Udine
• 1996-1998: local responsible for the European Project CATAI-Telemed (LEONARDO, E/95/2/1177/P/II.1.1.a/FPI).
• 1996-present: co-responsible, together with prof. C.A. Beltrami and prof.V.Roberto, of the "MULTIPATH Telemedicine Project", funded by the Consorzio Universitario del Friuli
• 1992: Italian prize (of AI*IA and Digital Equipment) for the best paper on Artificial Intelligence written by a neo-graduated.
