We believe there is a huge potential to use this method to inspire students and non-data experts to start working with data, or as a simple way to meet a new friend while also connecting with yourself at a deeper level. Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec

  1. Carefully read some examples of data cards from the book Dear Data. If you do not have the book, check the Dear Data gallery
  2. Choose one pearson you want to share your data with in the classroom
  3. Choose one topic per week for at least three weeks
  4. Collect and draw on paper your personal data and share the data cards with your friend
  5. Read your pal’s cards and compare them with yours (without judgement)
  6. Use Processing to digitally re-draw your cards. Share the sketches with your data friend
  7. Read and run the code written by your friend
  8. If you want you can share your data cards and data sketches with the teacher
