A Professor of Computer Science since 1987, Dr. Pieroni has teaching experience in several countries including United States (University of Houston, TX). His research interests include Dynamic Vision, Neural Network Applications in Artificial Vision, and some aspects of Computer Graphics. He edited books and published a variety of papers covering almost all aspects of his research interests. Dr. Pieroni was the director of the Image Processing Lab at the University of Houston, and he collaborated with NASA about a study for space robot vision. Dr. Pieroni has experience in directing multinational technical and didactic projects as well as scientific organizations. He has been involved in the EU projects VENICE and HOLOMAR in the area of underwater vision research. In those projects he was responsible for the intelligent vision aspects. Lately he spent two years at MCC (Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation), Austin, TX USA as a Senior Member Technical Staff. In that company he directed a project called MCC-VIE (Visual Information Exploitation), a system for the automatic conceptualization of images. Dr. Pieroni is now a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Udine Italy.
